“Nature-Based Solutions and economic localization for climate action and sovereignty”, a national tour leading up to World Localization Day 2022

Within the framework of World Localization Day 2022 (June 21) and the EU Climate Pact Ambassadors Network, Social Climate and SBNCLIMA, in collaboration with multiple entities, organize a national tour of conferences on Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) and economic localization.

The cities visited include, in chronological order: Aranda de Duero, Burgos, Valladolid, Madrid, Valencia and Barcelona; having already been held in Malaga in February. The speakers will be Jesus Iglesias Saugar, EU Climate Pact ambassador at SBNCLIMA, speaker at the UN Climate Change Conferences (COPs) and social entrepreneur; and Natascha Wahlberg Macías, co-founder of Social Climate, secretary of the Spanish NBS Cluster, expert in sustainable innovation, inclusive design and gender equity.

According to the IUCN Global Standard, Nature-Based Solutions protect, manage and regenerate ecosystems in order to tackle great societal challenges, while promoting health, well-being and a positive impact on biodiversity. Local economies allow to localize and diversify production, consumption and governance, thus reducing emissions and creating green & inclusive jobs. Together, these two tools for systemic action are able to generate energy sovereignty, climate resilience and social equity, in the face of the multiple crises we are experiencing such as the pandemic, war, migrations and inequalities, climate change or the extinction of species. In particular, the main focus of the talks will be the business opportunities created by these driving forces in the current context.
