NATUR-W 2nd Stakeholders Meeting in Lorca: inclusive governance for urban renaturing

Sara Pelaez, the Team Lead of the NatUR-W project, an urban innovation action that is developing Nature-based solutions (NbS) for climate resilience in the city of Lorca, moderated the session for the 2nd meeting of stakeholders. This is part of the activities led by the NBSCLIMATE team for the work package on Governance and Citizen Participation. The city council in the urban development office in Lorca hosted the meeting. The meeting was attended by many stakeholders identified as having high interest in the project, which included representatives from neighbourhood associations, cultural, elderly, youth and heritage associations, businesses and Lorca citizens. NBSCLIMATE  presented the Governance Plan and explained the terms of reference for the constitution of the final stakeholder’s board to the assistants. The project partners, SINGULAR GREEN, and the technicians from the city council of Lorca were also at the event and helped to moderate and answer the assistant’s questions. The technicians from SINGULAR GREEN presented the latest updates about the project design of a new Urban Forest in the Barrios Altos neighbourhood. Some of the conclusions of this second meeting were very positive, participants showed a deep involvement in the project by suggesting improvements to the design, they acted very supportive and committed. Stakeholders showed their compromise by accepting to be part of the Final Stakeholders Board which will defintely increase transparency and facilitate project communication. We would like to thank all the participants for their valuable inputs and compromise with the success of the project. At the same time we want to thank our partners Lorca city council, SingularGreen, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, INDRESMAT, fully invested and working hard to see the project through.
