The Break España: nature-based entrepreneurship and Inner Development Goals

The Break Fellowship , a programme to attract female entrepreneurship to Spain, financed with EU NextGen funds and promoted by the EOI business school of the Ministry of Industry in collaboration with The Break Alliance (Impact Hub Madrid, Startup.st and Mentor Day), managed to attract almost 1,000 female entrepreneurs from all over the European Union to our country between 2022 and 2023, creating a community based on mutual support, sisterhood and collaboration.

NBSCLIMATE participated by hosting 2 cohorts of 15 entrepreneurs in the spring and autumn of 2024 at Ribering, providing them with expert mentoring for the development of their business projects, support for personal well-being and enjoyment of the experience, group dynamization and connection with companies in the Ribera del Duero. They also contributed with ideas and expertise to solve important challenges in Aranda and the Ribera (climate, biodiversity, local commerce…) in collaboration with key local agents: Aranda City Council, JEARCO/ASEMAR, etc.

Following this great success, with funding from the European Social Fund+ (ESF+), the EOI is launching THE BREAK ESPAÑA to support entrepreneurial projects led by women, with 3 fundamental objectives:

    • Acceleration of impact projects : to strengthen them, scale them and improve their sustainability through workshops, expert mentoring and peer validation.

    • Sisterhood: The Break community is based on collaboration and mutual support between women, and its mission is to transform entrepreneurship in the European Union.

    • Territorial development : Giving back is in the DNA of the ‘Breakers’. Thus, the entrepreneurs will participate in open innovation activities alongside key local stakeholders to solve territorial challenges.

NBSCLIMATE & Ribering is pleased to once again participate in this transformative program, contributing:

  • We will provide expert online mentoring to 10 entrepreneurs, applying both the Nature-Based Solutions approach, according to the IUCN Global Standard in which we are certified, and the Inner Development Goals (IDG) thanks to a collaboration with Gloria González Urueña– an IDG ambassador, to ensure the businesses developed are nature-positive, boost the local economies, and link sustainability with personal and organizational development, because change begins at home.
  • Optionally and if the circumstances are favorable, we will invite the entrepreneurs to come in person to Ribering for a day of sharing good practices and transformative energy.
